FULL DESCRIPTION
Yes, it's exactly what it sounds like.
We reserve our coveted HXFF Midnight Slot for the funniest, the wildest, and the most loony late-night horror and grindhouse fare we can find. This year, that honour goes to The VelociPastor -- a horror comedy spoof of everything we love about late 80s early 90s direct-to-VHS or latenight cable schlock. Ninjas! Rubber Dinosaurs! Sleazy Drug Dealers! Conflicted Clergy turned Criminal-Killers! It's got everything swinging madly from a shoe-string budget that feels like it might snap at any minute -- and damn is it funny.
A priest with the power to transform into a dinosaur teams up with a hooker with a heart of gold to clean up the streets, which leads them into conflict with a Ninja-fronted drug ring. Don't let the intentional ludicrousness of the premise lead you to pause. The VelociPastor is hilariously goofy, intentionally bonkers, but by no means a throw-away satire. It's made with incredible care, humour, the most sincerest insincerity, and a clear love for all things we adore about so-bad-its-good movies. Trust us -- The VelociPastor is worth staying up for. It will make you a believer. Can I get an AHMEN?(Aaron Allen)
